Bonjour on this early Monday morning, It must seem as though I have been MIA for a few weeks but my thoughts are always on this blog and what I might share with you next. Since the change in Daylight Savings on Saturday night I have been thinking of the perfect place to be when the days are just a bit longer, and the sun sets a little later… here might be the perfect spot to dream about today.. A sunset in Provence…
Imagine the peacefulness that accompanies a Sunset in Provence…. As the suns light changes from bright yellow to an auburn, orange filled sky. Every window pane glows and the flowers stand taller hoping to catch the last of the days warmth.
A magical time… families gathering in their homes at the table, fresh cheese and home baked bread, the sweetest of tomatoes and olives… oh the olives!
Some sweet they melt in your mouth, and others tarty; perfect with a glass of Merlot wine.
This painting was created for a special friend of mine. The original painting was gifted to my friend Arlene, who has always encouraged me to follow my dreams, my heart and my passion. She continues to believe in my creativity and throughout our long and cherished friendship, she reminds me of France and all her beauty. The painting was drawn in soft pastels.
“Sunset in Provence”, my wish is for you to daydream for a while today and think about fresh sweetened figs, crispy green beans, Lillete aperitif, and delicious Madeleine cookies. Provence is a magical place with church bells ringing and whispering winds.
Sunsets all around the world are spectacular, over the Mediteranean Sea and high about the sky in Rome, as the days light dims softly and the sun bids bonsoir..Good evening.. Once more, take a moment to celebrate it. Watch it from your front porch; even on this cold day in March when we expect snow to come our way, after the storm the sun will shine and work its magic,  look over at the colors forming on your walk home… and if you happen to be daydreaming… well there is nothing like a “Sunset in Provence”.Â
“Frere Jacque, Frere Jacque , Dormez vous , Dormez Vous, Sonnez les matinez, Sonnez les matinez, ding dang dong, ding dang dong”….the song is about a Friar that has overslept and the bells are waking him up…perhaps church bells in Provence?
Until we meet again, Katerini

Dearest Kat,
I have been to France twice and your blog has brought me back in time. I can feel the sun on face as the smell of fresh bread and Bordeaux wine hits my pallet as I sat at an outdoor café people watching.
Nothing feels like this but Europe. I highly recommend everyone to set aside time and money and travel to Europe. You will instantly feel connected and accepted by such wonder.
Thank you for sharing this beautiful artwork of yours.
