Late August
The other night I watched “A good year” based on the novel by Peter Mayle. It was one of the movies on my summer bucket list; I have read the book and watched the movie many years ago.
If you want to treat yourself to a little something special, watch this movie. It’s about a successful business man who inherits a vineyard in France. He travels there with the intent to quickly sell of the villa along with the property, but is quickly reminded of the beauty of Provence and his childhood. The moral of this story is that success is measured differently for everyone and monetary value is not always what’s important.
Time passes quickly …. we often think we have a lifetime to spend with a loved one, often delaying the gathering as we make excuses about work and chores etc..  Time doesn’t wait for these things, it keeps on ticking and often so fast that it slips away.
Take time to nurture your relationships with your parents, spouse, children, friends, pets and other important people in your life. Slow down and take note of the change of seasons, listen to the stories and tales of your grandparents, …. really listen.  We often lose ourselves as we grow older to responsibilities, but there is an innocent soul in us all. It was there when we were born, when we were children, and when life was simple. ….. Find that precious part of you and hold on tight…. that is when you will be truly fulfilled, truly successful ….
The painting above is a gift for my sister in law. She adores flowers, and so I painted her Provence Sunflowers in Late August. If you are interested in a copy, my Etsy.com site under Sprinklesofmoondust includes this photo. Send me a message if you have questions.
No matter what your passion, no matter how unreachable it might feel, if you allow yourself the gift of laughter, the joy of love, and the fullness of relationships, I ensure you… it will be ” A good year”.
Until we meet again, au revoir,
Katerini
Thank you my dear friend for that insightful post. I do agree with you that many get caught up in the unimportant things in life and before they know it, 10 years have past.
I saw this movie and escaped to France, what an amazing visual dream it was. It reminded me of my trip to Boudreaux. Lesson of the day is; do the things that bring you joy and contentment…listen even the boring routine things we must endure can have some fun it in. It is all about perspective and finding the good in things. If that does not work then consider making changes in your life. Life is too short.
